Ph.D. Clinical Psychology

In the development of this course of PhD in Clinical psychology, it is acknowledged that the nature of psychology as applied to humans can vary from one community to another and from one culture to another. The perceptions, experiences and expressions and the impact of society on the individual can vary both in time and in place. It is, therefore, imperative that in order to understand human nature--the psychology within the context in which it exists-- these variations are fully taken into account. There is a need for indigenizing the study of human nature. Furthermore, it is due the complexity of human nature that Psychology is based on a range of different perspectives that provide explanations of human behavior in terms of theoretical and therapeutic models, which may, once again, change from time to time. Therefore, the ethos of this doctorate programe is to create indigenous knowledge base, test new theories, and develop assessment procedures and to demonstrate treatment effectiveness in various applied fields of psychology.
